Our Story
It all started in 1968 when Igor Hainke, an entrepreneur in Brazil, decided to start a shoe company inspired by thelatest beach trends. Using a unique rubber-moulding process, Igor created the first jelly sandals – lightweight, waterproof and with eye-catching translucent soles in dazzling colors.
The sandals were an instant hit across Brazil, loved for their ability to complement any outfit. As tourists started purchasing pairs to take home, the jelly sandals trend began to spread internationally throughout the 1970s. They became a must-have summer staple, providing a colorful statement for beach-goers and fashionistas alike.
Seeing the rise in popularity worldwide, Igor expanded the brand internationally to the US, UK and Europe. The vintage appeal of Igor’s aesthetic earned the jelly sandals icon status. Manufacturing Process
All Igor Sandals® are proudly made in our Brazilian-based factory using a unique manufacturing process perfected since 1968:
1. Material Selection
We carefully choose vegan, eco-friendly materials including EVA foam, rubber, and plant-based plastics. EVA ensures exceptional, bounce-back cushioning and comfort.
2. Mold Creation
Our skilled designers sculpt sandal sole molds out of clay before casting them into metal. These reusable molds help shape each pair.
3. Mixing
We mix natural rubber and coloring using our top-secret formula! This gives our jelly soles their translucent finish and vivid coloring.
4. Injection Molding
The liquid mixture is injected into the casts under high pressure. It distributes evenly, filling every groove before rapidly cooling and setting.
5. Finishing
Once set, the soles are finished with deburring for a smooth feel. We assemble the straps and soles together using sturdy adhesives.
6. Quality Testing
Before distribution, all sandals undergo rigorous wear testing. We check for strength, durability and consistency.
